At Gregg's Ranch, 19 June 2011

On the road again, we were back in traveling mode by 0700. Maybe we are still on east coast time but somehow we are awake at 0545 so why not crank up the bikes and continue the adventure?

Ca299 from Weaverville goes right to Gregg's town, 225 miles of two lane 70 mph, and beautiful farm country. It was refreshingly chilly, a real novelty on our trip so far. I had to add clothes when we went up in altitude for a couple mountain passes. At 6000 feet you can really see the valley unfolding below.

We got to the ranch by mid afternoon and immediately started doing manly things involving firearms, beer, steaks, tequila, and horses.

Life is good!

I taught the ground squirrels that my Army firearms training still counts!

At first the squirrels seemed be laughing at us.

I went
5 for 5 shots with the .22 rifle.

The sun was so bright that I got a bit of sunburn before Gregg brought out the cowboy hats.

My camera will not due justice to the vista here.

Suffice to say that we have 360 degree views of snow capped mountains.

I was asleep by 9pm!
