Moto guzzi rules the day. 17 June

Mark writes today...
The forecast was perfect ... Sunny all day, dark all night. So, off we went. We meaning Bob and I. Peter was feeling a bit under the weather, not sick enough to euthanize, but that option was briefly discussed behind his back.
We took R 199 West to Eureka, then south on 101, which had enough traffic that Bob and I considered euthanasia for ourselves. Route 36 East saved us. The twisties were fantastic, with plenty of elevation changes and all types of sweepers, from 20 mph to 60 mph.
Meeting all kind of people is always a favorite part of our trips and today was no exception. Kimberly, the clerk at the little town of Hayfork's general store was unique. She told us thar her grandfather was one of the original prominent citizens of the town, a business owner and the town constable. He solved the Wildwood murder case back in the early 40s. Her senior class consisted of 20 students. She looked all of 26 or 27. Needless to say, we were a bit shocked when she informed that she had 5 children, ages 14 down to 4. In such a small town we could only surmise what the favorite pastime was of the high school students.
Route 3 intersected Route 36 eventually, which provided us another chance to enjoy the twisties on our Guzzi and BMW. We were cruising along at a brisk pace when we were suddenly passed by a young squid (passing us on the outside of a sharp left hand turn, quite unannounced!) Three more of his buddies eventually passed us as well. Obviously, they are invincible. We, of course are not.
Arriving back at our cabin, we swapped lies with fellow bikers prior to walking down the street to participate in adult beverages and a fine meal.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
We toasted my son David with a shot of port back in our room. This is a tradition passed down from the Alaska trip two years ago when David and I would toast to Peter's good health after his Ducati broke down.
Some day, Peter may work his way back up the rung to a Moto Guzzi.
